Maintaining overall good health and getting regular exercise help reduce the chance of injury overall, but we don’t know of anything that can specifically reduce the possibility of sustaining an injury to the sacroiliac (SI) joint. Some of the common causes of SI joint pain or injury are arthritis, pregnancy and certain inflammatory disease such as ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatoid arthritis, or other related disorders.
